My approach

Finding  the right kind of support means finding a therapist you connect with, and an approach that feels right for where you're at. My work is rooted in a sense of grounded authenticity that shapes everything I do. I offer a solid presence  one that is open and supportive, as well as explorative and at times challenging  to support genuine, tangible and lasting change.

As a Gestalt therapist, I gently invite us to come into closer contact with what is happening in the present moment. Through a supportive therapeutic relationship, we can explore your experiences with curiosity. Together, we can ease the hold of thoughts, patterns and strategies that may no longer be serving you  and in doing so, open ourselves up to new ways of experiencing and being in the world, often beyond what we might have imagined.

My clients often describe how this process has opened the way to a more engaged and fulfilling life  one that feels richer, more meaningful, and alive with possibility.

The setting

Sessions take place either indoors or in the open natural outdoor environment around Hebden Bridge to suit preferences or the weather. I also offer sessions online.

Issues and areas of difficulty I support

I offer support with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including trauma, identity struggles, relationship issues, anxiety, aggression, and depression. I also have a have specialist understanding of difficulties that arise through parenting.  I work with people experiencing general emotional distress, whether it's a vague sense that something feels off or more intense feelings of hopelessness and helplessness.

Insight Training

I support others in emotionally integrating their insights, deepening their contemplative practice, and expanding their field of awareness opening the way to more profound realization. I also offer the important shadow work that is necessary following insights.

My approach draws from the non-duality wisdom traditions of Dzogchen, Mahamudra, and Zen, with an emphasis on direct pointing and the transformative process known as fetters work.

Cost

50 minute sessions are £60. Longer sessions are available. I'm committed to keeping therapy accessible and offer a reduced rate.

Because finding the right therapist is such a personal process, I offer a free initial session.

About me

I'm Dr Sahaja Davis. I bring over 20 years of experience as a practicing psychologist, alongside more than 30 years of teaching mindfulness and insight training,  work that has been central to both my practice and my doctoral research, which focused on mindfulness-based therapy. I am currently training in advanced Gestalt Psychotherapy with the UKCP and work as an academic specialising in present-moment approaches to psychotherapy. I also train and supervise practitioners in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Narrative Therapy.

I am deeply committed to my own awareness practice which is supported by mindfulness. This is central to my intimate  feelings of connectedness  to others and nature. Whilst I have benefited tremendously  from 35 years of practice I am still very much a work in progress. I feel fortunate and privileged to have travelled this far and see so much further to go.

If you would like to get a stronger sense of me as a person, feel free to book an free initial session.
